Waqf Board CEO Y M Mohammed Yousuf issued a fresh circular on Wednesday. “The prohibition of usage of loudspeakers was misrepresented as prohibition for morning azan, which is not correct, Nothing will prevent morning azan using loudspeakers by complying the standards prescribed above in the rules.”
Further clarifying on the previous circular issued on March 9 th regarding ban on loudspeakers in mosques and mausoleums from 10 pm to 6 am and said it was not about restricting the morning azan or call for prayer. While azaan is an essential and integral part of Islam, use of sound amplifying devices and loudspeakers are not. Islam is a religion of tolerance and teaches not to contravene the law of the land.
