(New Delhi, 12th February 2025) – An IIT Delhi alumnus has introduced PiFy, India’s first WhatsApp-based AI-powered software for students, offering smart, efficient, and affordable educational support. PiFy addresses a key challenge in academic assistance: providing instant doubt resolution for both students and teachers. Users can easily scan a QR code to access PiFy on WhatsApp and receive immediate step-by-step solutions. The platform also allows users to generate mock test papers and create revision notes, making it a one-stop solution for students’ academic needs.
PiFy was created with the vision of overcoming barriers to quality academic support. Existing AI-based education tools can often be expensive, difficult to access, or do not provide real-time assistance. PiFy changes this by making academic help both affordable and available 24/7. With PiFy, students can send text or image-based queries on WhatsApp and receive accurate, step-by-step solutions immediately. This allows for more flexible learning, letting students resolve their doubts at any time, whether during study sessions or last-minute exam preparation.
What makes PiFy unique is its pay-per-use model, which is highly cost-effective—students can resolve up to 100 doubts for under INR 200. The AI behind PiFy is trained across all subjects and exams and offers support in multiple regional languages, making it an inclusive platform for students across India. Advanced features such as Natural Language Processing (NLP) and image recognition ensure that PiFy provides personalized, context-aware responses, making it a reliable and insightful tool for students of all levels.
Rupesh Kumar, co-founder of PiFy and an IIT Delhi alumnus, shares, “We designed PiFy to not only answer queries but to think like a teacher, analyzing questions and delivering precise, real-time explanations.” Kumar explained that building an AI tool that truly understands students’ academic needs was the challenge. Most existing platforms struggle with accuracy, diversity in subjects, or accessibility, particularly for students in remote areas. “By integrating AI with WhatsApp, we removed these barriers, ensuring that students anywhere can get reliable academic support without needing to download extra apps or subscribe to costly services.”
The development of PiFy was supported by DRIIV, Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA), Government of India, hosted at IIT Delhi. PiFy aims to offer a safe, confidential environment for students to ask questions, particularly benefiting those who may hesitate to seek help in traditional classroom settings. With no app downloads required, PiFy is designed to be user-friendly and accessible to students of all levels, from primary education to competitive exams.
PiFy is set to revolutionize how students approach academic help, combining the convenience of WhatsApp with the power of AI to empower students and help them succeed independently.
