Karnataka SIR 2026: Electoral Roll Revision Nears Major Milestone
The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 of Karnataka’s electoral rolls is progressing rapidly. According to the latest update from the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Karnataka, more than 95% of Enumeration Forms (EFs) have been distributed across the state, while nearly 36% of the forms have already been digitised.
The revision drive, which began on June 30, 2026, aims to ensure that Karnataka’s electoral rolls remain accurate, updated, and free from duplicate or incorrect entries. The exercise will continue until July 29, 2026.
What is the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)?
The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is a large-scale voter verification exercise conducted by the Election Commission to update electoral rolls.
The primary objectives are to:
- Verify the details of every registered voter
- Remove duplicate entries
- Update addresses of shifted voters
- Delete names of deceased electors
- Identify voters who are no longer eligible
- Ensure clean and accurate electoral rolls before future elections
Officials are conducting door-to-door verification through Booth Level Officers (BLOs) while also allowing citizens to submit their Enumeration Forms online.

- Shifted
- Dead

- Otherwise requiring verification
A total of 11,89,525 electors have been flagged.
The breakdown includes:

- 1,27,516 absent or untraceable voters
- 58,602 duplicate registrations (already enrolled elsewhere)

These cases will undergo further verification before any changes are made to the electoral rolls.
Online Submission Option Available
Apart from submitting forms through Booth Level Officers, voters also have the convenience of submitting their Enumeration Forms online.
So far:
- 2,21,814 forms have been submitted digitally
- This accounts for 0.40% of Karnataka’s total electorate
The online facility offers greater convenience, especially for voters who may not be available during door-to-door visits.
Why This Revision Matters
Accurate electoral rolls are essential for conducting free and fair elections.
A clean voter list helps:
- Prevent duplicate voting
- Remove outdated records
- Ensure eligible citizens can vote without difficulty
- Improve the overall integrity of the election process
Regular revision exercises also help maintain public confidence in the electoral system.
Deadline for Voters
The Special Intensive Revision will continue until:
📅 July 29, 2026
Eligible voters who have not yet submitted their Enumeration Form should complete the process before the deadline to avoid any issues with their voter registration.
